Dr. Joseph P. Nadeau has been named the new director of choral music at The College. He succeeds Dr. Jeff Anderson, who served in the capacity between 2008 and 2012.
Nadeau brings nearly two decades of music education experience, working with students of all age levels in Maine, Colorado and Kansas. He has a strong passion for choral music and deeply believes that singing is a life-long, vital part of the human experience.
Nadeau received a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the University of Maine, a Master of Arts in Choral Conducting from the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music, and a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Choral Conducting from the University of Kansas. As a conductor, he has studied with Dennis Cox, Eph Ehly, Paul Tucker, and Dale Warland.
In addition to his work at Ottawa University, Nadeau is in his fifteenth year as artistic director of the Heartland Men’s Chorus in Kansas City. He is a member of the American Choral Director’s Association, the Music Educator’s National Conference, Chorus America, GALA Choruses, and Intercollegiate Men’s Choruses.
This summer, Nadeau conducted Heartland Men’s Chorus and Kansas City Women’s Chorus at the International GALA Choruses Festival in Denver and was recently a featured speaker at the Alabama Choral Director’s Summer Conference.
