Kathy Kump has been named the director of nursing at Ottawa University.
Kump comes to Ottawa University from the Dwight D. Eisenhower VA Medical Center in Leavenworth, Kansas, where she was an educator with the Wound Management Academy.
“Kathy has been a registered nurse for 25 years and has a well-established record of excellence in serving as an educator, specialist, program director and national trainer,” said University Provost Terry Haines.
Kump completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Master of Health Services Administration and Master of Science in Nursing at the University of Kansas. She is currently enrolled in the University of Kansas Doctor of Nursing Practice program.
Kump has 16 years of inpatient and outpatient clinical, managerial and program development experience in the specialty of wound care, having been involved in the implementation of outpatient wound care clinics at Saint Lukes Northland Hospital, Kansas City; Stormont-Vail Hospital, Topeka; and Overland Park Regional Medical Center, Overland Park. She has previous clinical adjunct teaching experience at both Kansas City Kansas Community College and Johnson County Community College.
In this new position, Kump will work cooperatively with the Angell Snyder School of Business Health Care Management program to develop and enhance academic programming, as well as work to foster positive relationships with hospitals and community colleges nationwide.
