While a Brave, Mesle started in all 75 games and was a five-time Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week selection. He was a three-time All-KCAC performer.
Mesle, originally from St. Charles, Missouri, was the Wings’ All-Star selection from the MISL combine. He was brought into Wichita’s training camp and was formally offered a contract at the camp’s conclusion.
“Mike has worked extremely hard for this opportunity and is 100 percent receiving a well-deserved chance to play for an MISL team,” says Braves Head Soccer Coach Bob Casper. “I know Mike will represent himself and Ottawa University very well, and I wish him the best this season and in all the seasons to come.”
Mesle was signed as the 18th and final roster position for the club’s 2012-2013 season, which began November 4.
“We are pleased to have Michael on our team,” says Wichita Wings Head Coach Labaron Hollimon. “When we look to add a player to our roster, obviously talent has to be a big decider, but equally as important to us is the character of the individual. Michael fit the bill perfectly for us to occupy our final roster spot.”
The Wichita Wings was founded in 1979 and plays out of Hartman Arena, playing against MISL teams The Baltimore Blast, Milwaukee Wave, Missouri Comets, Norfolk SharX, Rochester Lancers, and the Syracuse Silver Knights.
“Playing professional soccer has always been a dream of mine,” says Mesle. “I couldn’t be happier with the opportunity to play with the Wichita Wings.”
