Michael Hull ’00 and his wife announced the birth of their son, Micah Jack Hull, on Jan. 20, 2013.
Jeremy ’06 and Kathy (Armstrong) Deason ’10 announced the birth of their daughter, Kelly Ann, on Feb. 9, 2013.
Kylie Covey ’11 married Tyler Lohmann on Dec. 21, 2012. They currently live in Wichita, with plans to move to Cocoa Beach, FL.
David Glavin ’06 married Audrey Paine on May 25, 2013. David is Associate Pastor at First Baptist Church of Ottawa, Kansas.
L. Jean Burris Inskeep ’46 died Feb. 16, 2013, at the age of 88. She is survived by her husband, Warren Inskeep ’44; brother Robert; daughters Joan, June and Jennifer; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Edith Helen Retzer Haworth ’47 went to be with the Lord on May 14, 2013. She is survived by her husband, Rayburn Haworth ‘49; and three children, Scott Haworth ‘73, Jill Haworth Tembey ‘76 and Janelle Haworth Angell ‘83. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Mildred “Mickey” Finch Hermreck ’49 died on Feb. 26, 2013, at the age of 85. She is survived by son David Hermreck; daughters Marsha Hermreck and Michelle Gray; sisters Shirley Daney and Beverly Bolger; and grandchildren Nicholas Hermreck, Jordan Gray and Mark Hermreck.
The Rev. Earl O. Caryl ’50 died on Feb. 6, 2013, at the age of 84. He is survived by children Marcia McCarty ’71, Frank Caryl ’72, Myrna Smith, and Marilynn Heneck; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Joyce Gaddis ’53 died on Feb. 12, 2013. She is survived by her husband, John ’53; two children, Diana Reed and Randy Gaddis; four grandchildren, Kyle, Katelyn, and Kelsey Gaddis and Lauren Reed; three great-grandchildren, Cadence, Ariana and Brody Gaddis; her brother, Merle Blair; and two sisters, Cheryl Curnutte and Deborah Golden.
Samuel Ayobahan ’62 died April 2, 2006, at the age of 80. Rose O’Sharon Mathews Christensen ’63 died on Feb. 20, 2013, at the age of 71. She is survived by daughters Dana Udlock and Erin Schlittenhart; grandchildren Jonathan, Thomas, Michaela, David and Joshua Udlock, and Justin Schlittenhart; and sisters Colleen Quick and A. Brent Saunders ’73 died on March 1, 2013, at the age of 62. He is survived by his wife, Diana Whitaker Saunders ’73; mother Evelyn Saunders; brothers Kirk and Rob; sister Eva Juzwiak; and 12 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence, and brother, Kim.
Eddy M. Bailey ’74 died on Jan. 29, 2013. He is survived by his wife, Carole ’74; a son, Nicholas A. Bailey; and a brother, Dr. Rolland Bailey ’69.
Dr. Charles C. Anderson died March 3, 2013, at the age of 82. He was a 35-year religion professor and department chair at Ottawa University and was named a Sybil Martin Distinguished Professor. He is survived by sister Merle Mattson; sons Gunnar Sjolander, Curtis Anderson and Jeremy Anderson; daughter Dolores Balda; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; a brother, Willis; a daughter, Renee Goar; and a granddaughter, Courtney Anderson.
Dr. Martin J. Meade died on April 18, 2013. Meade was the dean of students and associate professor of psychology at Ottawa University from 1970 to 1980.
Morgan Williams ’61 presented the 2013 Palij lecture at the University of Kansas on April 8 through the Center for Russian, Eastern European and Eurasian Studies. The presentation was titled “Ukraine & United States: Relations and Economic Development Moving Forward.”
Stephen Morris ’66 was inducted into the Wellsville USD 289 Wall of Fame on May 18, 2013. Morris taught in the Wellsville science department from 1968 to 2007. Students described him as influential, supportive, professional, honest, and respectful. He coached both cross-country and girls track from 1975 to 1989 and wrestling from 1977 to 1994.
Millie Nottingham Edwards ’76 performed a concert on April 20 with OU’s Director of Jazz Studies Dr. Todd Wilkinson and other special guests to benefit Mental Health America of the Heartland.
Randy Camacho ’93 authored a book, “From Roots Up,” which encourages readers to look past conventional wisdom regarding life, faith and politics. The book includes columns Camacho wrote for The Arizona Republic.
Kelley Bethel-Smith ’99 was nominated for the Baldwin City Chamber of Commerce’s annual Community Servant Award.
