Small Worlds
Everyone lives and breathes in their own sphere; microcosms of the existence that we all share. And, like the individuality of each man and woman to the next, unique are those small worlds. Some gain their identity through places traveled; others through the people met along the way; still others by work and service performed in their distinctive realms. What each of the worlds has in common is that they are paths that eventually lead us right back to where we started, fuller and deeper than before because of the intersection with the spheres of others.
It’s that juxtaposition of our individual paths with the cross section of humanity throughout the entirety of our existence that brings the stories in this issue of the Ottawa Spirit to life. The circumstances, events or people of one OU life that intersect in incredible ways with other OU lives in varying times, places and ways tie us together as a community in a very small, and deeply meaningful, world.
